The region of Trentino-Alto Adige is the northernmost wine producing region in Italy and profits from the cool Alpine air combined with intensive Mediterranean sunshine. Prendo wines attest to the great quality of the grapes and their vineyards – the work in the vineyard, including harvest, is done entirely by hand, no small feat in the challenging conditions of steep vineyards at altitudes of 350 to 800 metres.
Four selected wines that mirror the essence of the Dolomites in Northern Italy, with a modern style: well-defined fruit and harmonious freshness with straightforward presence.
The Prendo wines are a project by the Wilhelm Walch estate – one of Alto Adige´s most venerable family owned and operated wine estates. Founded in 1869 in the charming wine-producing village of Tramin, the winery has its home in what was formerly a Jesuit monastery, with historic underground cellars and carved wine casks. A new innovative fermentation cellar built in 2015 allows to work the grapes gently using only gravity and features the most modern cellar technics for the highest of qualities.
Over two decades ago, the desire of producing youthful and approachable expressions of the Dolomites came up and the Prendo line was born. Initially with only two wines, a Pinot Grigio and a Pinot Noir, the success that those wines had on international markets led to the addition of two more wines in 2024, a Chardonnay and the indigenous variety Schiava.
